I'm saying they should switch it up instead of rehashing the same Red and Blue formula over and over again. I'd want different starters and an actual plotline. Make Colosseum with a main game budget.

honestly, getting a starter that isn't fire/grass/water would be awesome, though some types shouldn't be allowed (e.g. steel and dragon) that early in the game, so the typings should either be neutral against each other or another rock-paper-scissors but with a new typing. concerning story, it'd be nice to interesting/nice to have it either be just you and your rival or it's you where you're the "evil villain".

The grass/fire/water trio is the best way to introduce new players to type effectiveness, it's simple and easy to understand. Other triangles exist, but none is as obvious. Not yo mention it makes them stand out amongst the early route normal, flying and bug types.

If they're gonna change stuff, I mostly wish they'd stop introducing new regional bird / rodents / bugs / pikaclone.
Focus on original stuff, and use existing pokemon to fill these boxes. Also no geodude, abra, zubat and other gen 1 pokémon we've seen in every single region.

If you allow water type as one of the starter Pokemon types, any other type would be fine.
