some of the most atrociously low lows (muh stompy waifu, we put a coat of orange paint on it, generic mono electric furry) but overall a solid dex with designs that are easy to get passionate about, I'd place it around the middle of the gens dex-wise

Better designs than Gen 5 and 6, to say the least. They're a return to form. Most of the UBs can go back to the whatever dimension they came from, without a trace.

You think that because you're looking at the negatives. The other gens had many mediocre meh mons that people overlook but gen 7 was different. The majority if the mons were either great or fucking garbage. Very little between.

Half of them are great, but the other half are just kinda crappy.'meh'. Toucannon, The Grubbin line, Crabrawler (its evo sucks though), Oricorio, Rockruff and it's evos, Wishiwashi, Toxipek Salandit and Salazzle (though I would've liked another evo), Stufful+Bewear, Oranguru and Passimian, Wimpod+Golisopod, unironically the sandcastles, Silvally, Minior, Mimikyu, Drampa, Delmise, Tapu Koko, and all the UBs are great.

I think gen 7 is pretty good, I like a lot of their designs. I'm not the type of person who hates ANY Pokemon, I just think some are designed to fit other people's tastes just not mine.

They're definitely below average design-wise, but they're above average in terms of what they do in battle. There was some clever stuff like Stakeout, Dazzling, Stamina, Fluffy, and Water Compaction, but they were all put on pokemon with shit designs. Same thing with cool moves like Ice Hammer, Double Iron Bash, and Beak Blast being on shit pokemon. There were some winners in both departments like Dhelmise, Wishiwashi, Mimikyu, and Salandit/Salazzle, but that didn't necessarily mean they were good in battle, either. A lot of pokemon in gen 7 that I dislike from a design perspective, I like more if I just reduce them to what they do in battle. Not the worst design-wise, but maybe second worst.

My least favorite, while we had pokemon design for marketing before a living organism the alolan dex takes it to the extreme.Too many pokemon with cartoony portions and with cubone syndrome of being too specific to be a entire species starters especially. The bugs were pretty good. Tsareena and Zeraora are only the pokemon that I feel like are a mistake in the entire franchise

Alola had one of the best dexes of all time though, and you specifically posted my favorite one. Turtonator, Ribombee, Lurantis and Golisopod are some of my favorite designs in the series overall, Kommo-o is an excellent pseudo design-wise, and Marshadow is the only legendary I've thought looked cool since fucking Zapdos. It's a great Pokédex of Pokémon trapped in the worst gen yet

Shits all over the designs of 4th and 6th gen btw

I like that Gen 7 Pokemon had more thought out designs and concepts than past ones. Each of them actually had a reason for being in the region, as opposed to being complete randoms like in the past. Most Gen 7 Pokemon had signature abilities and/or moves, so they definitely stood out a lot more by comparison.

There are some bad ones, but also some of my favourite designs ever (golisopod, mimikyu, minior). UBs have better designs on average compared to the standard pokemon, but the legendaries are pretty terrible
