I thought XY was somewhat shitty and a step down from its predecessors, but what it brought to the table like 3D worlds and streamlined online features I liked and was hopeful about what they were going to do with them. Then we got ORAS and I became less optimistic.
Then SM came out and I was appalled. I still held out hope for USM. I don’t know what I was thinking but I thought they might overhaul the region like BW2 and make the stops less intolerable, but instead USM was the same exact game + ultra grindhole at the end. Complete feces. I didn’t even bat an eye at LGPE and I don’t own a switch.
The Galar first form starters look alright even though they’ll almost certainly be fapbait which will ruin them, but the routes shown have just been featureless straightaways and the graphics are just reused SM assets. My hype is already dead after gen VII albeit still loving Pokémon, but if VIII is exactly like SM like it seems, my interest will be dead and my life + Pokémon will be playing gen I-V games periodically every couple of years and that’s it. Maybe the TCG, but probably not.
I’m pretty depressed since Pokemon took up so much/all of my downtime for my entire life since RBY up until ORAS and without passable new content for years and years to come, I don’t know what I’m gonna do. I only typed all that out because I think my situation is not uncommon and many people feel this way and have had my or similar experiences with this franchise.
