No, gen3 and 4 had new regions, but the same basic concepts and gameplay feel as previous gens. There wasn't any drastic differences. That starts with 5.

Also, literal circle, and the city feels like a few "tall buildings" in the middle of nowhere, not like a real city. To be fair, the first "real city" that feels like one is in gen 6.

That's getting rid of a limitation in game design. Gen5 gave us the whole very best friends bullshit, and the story that hounds you all the time, as well as the "only new mons" as a desperate attemt to shake things up (gen6 then tilted the other way, with the "throw in fucking everything" approach)

Gen 3 introduced end of the world plots, "misunderstood" villains, story important legendaries, friendly "rivals" that give up half way, etc. And even though Hoenn isn't a "literal circle", you still have to go on a set path anyway instead of choosing your own like with Kanto.

Pokemon was never was pandering to weeaboos, it was always pandering to Japanese audiences, whose tastes and entertainment industries have changed over the years.

However, BW was the first game to start including obnoxious moeshit designs that became the norm for the series. Ohmura polluted the franchise.

The confusion here comes from how easy Gen1 is to sequence break. Yes, there is a set path you're supposed to go. But Gen ! had a lot of shuffling around in development (Like how Koga and Sabrina have each others badges) that wasn't properly scrubbed in the final game. So a lot of people think the games very open because they sequence breaking is so easy they don't even realize they're doing something they're not supposed to be doing. In truth the only intentional choice the player has is whether they go to Fuchsia through the Cycling Road or The Silence Bridge/Fence Maze. Everything else is sequence breaking.

You're right, he was from gen 2 and according to Johtoddlers the game ends with red meaning silver dropped out at the half way point.

The only american one is a lighthouse that hasn't existed for decades that americans think is meant to be the statue of liberty but it's actually based on the lighthouse that used to be there instead of the statue.
The setting isn't america, it's based on the concept of multiculturalism, too bad this theme was basically used in every gen leaving unova without a theme of its own.
