I like how we had a nice polynesian setting with plenty of animals to draw off of, they couldnt even give us 100 natural non legend/ub pokemon... and the moment they had an excuse to give us a water/dragon marine iguana or a tortoise we get turtonator. gen 7 squandered so much.

But what would be cool is if they introduced something based on harlequin shrimp, considering the mareanie vs. corsola relation is based on real life crown of thorns starfish vs. reef coral, and harlequin shrimp are the only things actually keeping crown of thorns in check.

yes, that type works oh so well with other pokemon.

also water/dragon because Marine Iguana's gained a resistance to colder temperatures which could explain the neutral to ice.

It's more fitting. Salt is an actual mineral and they're very well known for sneezing.
And they don't have a resistance to colder temps, most of them are so unresistant to the cold that they can't even dive and just have to eat algae during low tide.
But water/dragon would trade ice resistance for a neutrality so I don't even think you know what you're arguing for.
