>>38769448Honestly Octillary is my favorite pokemon in Johto design and concept wise, partially because I love Octopi and partially because I think its a really well-executed design that has enough subtlety to get off it's idea without shoving it in your face. However Octillary just has horrific stat distribution since it's a slow frail mixed attacker that has no use for it's attack stat in the first place. All it needs is more defense at the very least.
IMO Octillary really needed a mega and I'd imagine a Mega Octillary would have the aforementioned armored tank-shell design and would have gained +30 to both defenses and +20 to both offenses (giving it mixed 125 offenses and more respectable 75/105/105 bulk).
I feel like Shell Armor would be the most realistic ability Game Freak would give it but I'd like to see it get Mega Launcher or Analytic (the latter of which would be fucking fantastic for something with such high offenses and such slow speed, as well as absolutely destroy switch ins).
Also fuck pokemon crystal for excluding this thing. I have no one to give me a Remoraid in Crystal and it breaks my heart I can't play through it with this thing.
