overworld encounters are fine as long as you actually get to fight the pokemon, and yeah you are right i feel like a lot of people with legit autism got used to seeing grass and expecting the screen to flash, now they can walk all they want on grass and it is just not gonna happen so it really breaks their world apart

Well then look for another franchise that doesn't have them, the random encounter is one of the bases of Pokemon, confirmed by the same Masuda when they asked him in 2014.
