The desert and snow areas aren't going to fit in that tiny grassy box. There's probably regular routes between most towns with a couple of wild areas in the bigger gaps.

it'll depend on how large the area actually is. Here we can see it goes as far north as that big city with the castle with the weird "wings". That's really a big space if it starts in the areas with the big lakes at the center of the region. We'll have to see whether the Wild Area is a fun place to explore or just a glorified playground with nothing really to do in it.

If the Wild Area refers to only what was shown in the Direct, then it is small. It's that area between the steampunk city and the starting towns. They said it connects several different cities and it doesn't, unless they meant that the wild area is every area between towns, which seems more likely due to the desert and icy areas on the map, but they didn't imply that at all. It'll probably just be that one area with the ponds below the steam city with biome changes.

The definition of open world is more than just "a really big field".

This game is surely going to be very sequential as usual as you travel to objectives on a predestined path. It just happens to have a open world area. By the extremely low chance you are allowed to approach objectives freely, then yes, it would be open world.

Not really. Zelda 1 has no nonlinear content in the open world, there is actually literally nothing to do, but that is now considered an open world game that directly inspired BOTW.

Alright, so let's put this logic to the test. I think BotW is a bad comparison, since the scale is so much vaster compared to this. This game resembles something more like FFXIII. Would you consider that an open world game? The majority of the game is infamous corridors, but halfway through there is an expansive open world area with many side-quests. Nah, the overall aesthetics of the game still suck, the grass Pokemon looks pretty bad, Dynamax looks like even more powercreep and just flat out looks dumb, which sucks given this is the "hook" of gen 8 like Megas ware for 6 and Z-Moves were for 7
But to be fair, those two were also pretty bad additions overall
Raids I can't tell yet but I can bet that they'll be what GF will consider "postgame content", which is just having 4 players fight an oversized preexistent poke
I doubt we'll get new areas, new dungeons, sidequests or anything of the like to do in postgame again when they can just use this repeatable content instead of something crafted.

Yeah, the level design seems stupid. At least put some interesting looking and unique places to traverse. That shot with the tree looked so barren... And there probably won't be much shit to do in the overworld either. You clearly can see areas that are north of the red city in the Direct in the parts they are talking about The Wild Area

Some of the sandstorm scenes are in the dead-tree-desert-looking area close to the dragon city. There is a scene you can see the protagonist with a bike there.
