Pokemon only became succesful because of their dragon-esque designs. Its why people love KANTO, yet GF doesnt get it. That being said, I like Elgyem (not its evolution however) but GF sucks at designing pokemon in general now.

In reality.
>The cutesy shit and bugs were popular in Japan and the rest of the world only liked or cared about shillmons (see Pikachu, Squirtle, Charizard, Jigglypuff, Poliwhirl, Psyduck, Diglet, Mewtwo and Eevee.)

The only "dragon-esque" shillmon in the franchise during gen 1 was Charizard, none of the other Kaijushit was popular.
