Since I didn't see this in any other place yet, here are the names for the new Pokémon in Japanese, German, and French. Perhaps we can find some more clues about them from the alternate translations.

The tortoise, Torgamord (Tor is obvious, I don't understand the Ga, Mord=Bite)
The flowers, Tournicoton (it's a reference to an old kid-show where the character always says Tournicoti-Tournicoton, +Coton)
Blancoton (Blanc=White, Coton)
The crow, Corvaillus (Cor for Corbeau=Crow, Vaillus could be derived from Vaillant=Brave)

Based Spanish versions. They don't change the names of the pokemon, just the character's names. They use the English names and not the Japanese, though.

Cottomi = Cotton + Omi (cotton + grandma)

Cotton is no German word, it's taken from English. The German word Baumwolle appears in Cottonee’s German name "Waumboll" (together with Bolle = bulb)

OUISTEMPO = ouistiti (marmoset) + tempo
FLAMBINO = flamme (flame) + albino (not sure on this part, it does reference the white colour though)
LARMELEON = larme (tear) + caméléon (chameleon)
TOURNICOTON = tourniquet (spinner) + coton (cotton)
BLANCOTON = blanc (white) + coton (cotton)
MOUMOUTON = moumoute (wig) + mouton (sheep) (mou also means soft so that could be a further influence)
CORVAILLUS = influenced by corbeau (raven) - probably corvus (genus name for crow family) + vaillant (brave/valiant)
TORGAMORD = tortue (turtle) + mordre (verb meaning 'to bite') - not sure about the 'ga' part or what the wordplay is

Grookey's certainly music based. The other two are still up in the air though.
Sobble's names all just talk about it crying and being a chameleon. The new info they put on the site talks about it being able to go invisible when in water and being able to make people cry by crying itself.
Scorbunny's names are all just "rabbit + fire" which is consistent with all the other fire starters actually. They never really have their theme tied to their names for some reason. But we do know now that it's fire comes from a fire sac that acts like a second heart, so as it's heart rate increases, it gets hotter.
