i really hate the direction the series is going, the last pokemon game i enjoyed was BW2 and S/S looks like shit, can we have a comfy rom hack thread ? i want to play a new pokemon game

Clover is really good if you're looking for something kind of fresh but familiar. It can be pure bullshit at times for comedy's sake but that's kind of the charm of it.

For an enhancement hack, Renegade Platinum is Platinum but the entire dex is catchable, has plenty of optional sidequests, and harder battles.

Prism is probably the best you're gonna get for an all-new experience if you're a GBfag like me. It's not flawless but it scratched an itch for me that every post-Crystal Pokemon game couldn't.

Orange by Pia Carrot looks like it's gonna be my new favourite when it's out.

The Ruby Destiny series was... interesting. The spritework could get godawful at times and I don't know what the FUCK were they thinking when they tried making Rescue Rangers, but the music was based. Definitely worth a try if you're willing to play something so ridiculous it's fun.

I really enjoyed Glazed if you're looking for something completely different. Renegade Platinum's great for exploring, I was trying to find every Pokemon in each area and I never do that in main series games

Made by the same team who made Renegade Platinum; Volt White/Blaze Black is White/Black with a fully catchable dex (including legendaries at 1% encounter rate at their determined locations) and a much tougher trainer roster. After being baby'd by this franchise for 20+ years the first gym completely fucked my Dad. A lot of shit mons are also altered for better BSTs, move pool, abilities, and a few type changes as well. Makes most of the dex playable. It was fun for me to use Noctowl as my ace.

Flora sky was considered great at the time it came out due to having every pokemon up to gen 5 but has aged poorly due to having bad map design. There's no clear indication on where you're supposed to go to advance the story which will lead you to walking into dead ends with pokemon that higher leveled than what you got only to end up overleveled when you go to the intended route. Procyon/Deneb are good romhacks if you're okay with not knowing how to read since it's all in japanese, light platinum's not too bad and has pokemon up to gen 4, alchemist is a fantastic fan game that feels like it was made for pokemon fans due to not having any edgy stories or fakemon and having various characters from different pokemon games show up
