I actually like Rotom and rotomdex and never found it annoying. Though I do think the previous games made way better use of the bottom screen.

Rotomdex's concept was great and it made a lot of sense, it was just annoying in execution because he'd constantly jump out and talk unprompted. It was simply a matter of being implemented poorly.

I really don't remember him doing that, I basically ignored the bottom screen the entire time. Because it didn't have useful stuff on it like XY/ORAS did.

They could have done more with it I agree, hopefully the rotom phone comes out better.

I replayed Ultra Sun recently and Rotom is actually totally fine throughout the entire main game, it's only in the post-game where he never fucking shuts up. It's so bad it almost feels like a programming error.
