The Z-Crystals turned out to be pieces of Necrozma, so if Dynamax turns out to be a byproduct of a third legendary Pokémon, it'll be pretty similar.

It's certainly a legendary pokemon that is the cause of the Dynamax Phenomenon.
Will probably be important to the story and you'll have to fight it with your own dynamaxed pokemon in the endgame.

The giant creature is a dragon, there is a classic tale that involves a giant dragon and a wolf.

The third legendary is named Eternatus - will most likely be an evil dragon from another dimension which will be the source of Dynamax (the same way that Necrozma was the source of Z-Moves and Totems)
