Then base Pidgeot can protect and give the Mega boosted speed. How much this matters I'm not sure.

It has to give up u-turn or roost to get a guaranteed boost but it could invest less in speed and more into other stats. +1 Speed Speed nature M-Pidgeot 0 Speed EV's outspeeds Jolly 252 M-Aerodactyl. However it's physical movepool is limited to Brave Bord and DE/Return so it's not like it can 2hko Blissey after SR and LO with Close Combat.

Apart from a few specific ones designed to either be a joke, or unusually realistic ones, like Mudsdale, most pokemon have a density like fucking styrofoam or something.
Imagine Groudon. Something eleven fucking feet tall, not even necessarilly made out of stone or something. Just meat and bone. Only one fucking ton.
Such garbage. Groudon would likely fall over in a light breeze.
