Anyone else think this gen's reveal and overall pre-release hype has been the weakest of all the gens?

Too early to say, I think they're being more restrained than they were with Alola which while I'm glad since it reduces the probability they're going to spoil something important it also leaves several aspects of the game completely in the dark which I'd rather not have be in the dark.

I don't get the vibe that GF was particularly excited to make this. Nothing here looks particularly interesting or inspired.

Corviknight is cool, but is that worth an $80 purchase (and buying a Switch after selling mine because the thing has no good games)?

Sword and Shield looks alright i guess? I wish I could be as excited as some of you but I'm feeling very underwhelmed about it. The dynamax thing is just.. this pokemon is now... VERY large... okay. I really wished they stop adding more mechanics to manage. Not a fan of any of the trainer designs either, the Pokemon designs are okay though. I don't like the legendaries. Corviknight is neat. I really hope the e3 direct has info on DQ11 and SMTV I'm looking forward to those games more.

It's weaker than usual, but honestly most of what makes it feel so dull isn't the hype season itself. The problem is everyone being burned out from several mediocre games in a row and constant disappointment after getting hyped for Gen 6 and 7 games. At this point, people are shitting on things as a defence mechanism to avoid being betrayed by their own excitement.
