Art Director doesn't mean you’re designing every pokémon. it just means he’s finalizing designs handed to him by the rest of the team, and considering how Poipole in concept changed almost nothing in its finalization i doubt he’ll end up doing more than just drawing the bulk of official art.

By that track record, its going to be a gen of peaks and valleys, highs and lows. Vanillite line is one of the worste designs ever but all the others are really unique and memorable.

I disagree about Vanillite line although I do understand the concept of an ice cream Pokemon is somewhat stupid. But it would be a lie to say I didn't love using Vanilluxe in White.

I can imagine warming up (haha geddit) to Vanillite if I used it on a run through the game. 2 stage mons are always great because you get that sense of progresson. The design to me is just too flat, one-note, and cartoony. I dont even mind the concept. Vanillite on its own is cute and an ice-cream/stalactite mon could be cool but this design just aint it.
