unsure if they are, but given leakers are humans that don't have a team of proof readers checking what they write before putting it out like an official release, they can easily make typos, or have a memory error, for example, the chipmunk/squirrel argument could boil down to them simply not knowing the difference. For this example, they could have simply remembered it was a notable type, and mistakenly remembered fairy instead of dark.

The /v/ leaker wasn't speaking japanese. At best he, was a bit drunk, at worst, he's an ESL that was given the information.
Regarding how they are called, あく (悪) and フェアリー, Aku and Fearii respectively. They don't look alike, at all (hell, one uses hiragana and can also be written as kanji, and the other one uses just katakana).

I grew up with gen 1, and it pisses me off more than anything else.
Gen 1 being the only ones to get regional forms is infinitely worse than using Rotom for technology interfaces, as the only other option would be Porygon, which just loops back to gen 1 pandering.

Korrina was pretty memorable given her encounters with you on Route 5 and in Geosenge Town, and the cutscenes in the Tower of Mastery. Clemont is also somewhat memorable due to the anime.

But yeah, Valerie is pretty forgettable. The gap between Clemont's gym and hers is a rival battle with Calem/Serena and a very short route. She is also pretty easy to beat as she uses shitmons. Her gym puzzle is even a ripoff of Sabrina's. So yeah, she's forgettable.
