Pretty interesting stuff. I guess I never put the connection together for the 3 legendaries. Though the golems I knew about. So what about Dialga, Palkia? It makes sense what Giratina and Arceus are based on.

Jessie and James from the anime are inspired by Sailor Moon.
Godzilla is influenced by the nuking of Japan.
Godzilla inspired Ultraman.
Capsule machines inspired the part of Ultraman that inspired Pokeballs.
All of anime was inspired by Disney.

You can go way too far back with this shit.

First of all, Tajiri himself said that the trade idea (besides cave link yada yada) came from Dragon Quest, and in general DQ has influenced every jrpg of the 80's and early 90's in japan.
In the second place Sugimori admitted he was a fan of Toriyama.

Should just put Wizardry in there if OP wants to link key influencers of rpgs.
Also being a fan doesn't equal copycat style. I swear the people who keep blasting this haven't seen a lot of older anime, plenty of shows from the late 80s through 90s have an angular pointy style. It's dumb to say Sugimori's early art must be a Dragon Ball clone.

Updated, altough I'll stop here to prevent it from becoming a giant mess.
I just wanna further influences on Gen 4 and 5, altough I can't think any for now, excluding math, taoism etc.., that would make it too complex, and gen 1, which is implied. But since i've put those guys for gen 7 maybe I can put other eastern philosophers for Gen 5 taoism. Gen 4 is greek mithology mixed with Science and the concept of utopias, Idk.

The main books for Taoism are, in book (author) format...
Tao Te Ching and Huahujing (Laozi), Zhuangzi (Zhuangzi), Liezi (Lie Yukou), and the I Ching (Fu Hsi, King Wên, Duke of Chou, Confucius), if you're interested in researching those.
