The world is actually more accepting of lgbt people no unlike before.
They are, however, not content with equal treatment. Most (not all) want to be placed on a pedestal and gawked at. They want other people (literally everyone) to appreciate how unique they are.
It's actually weird that a movement that has fought hard and aspired to be treated normally by other people is now shooting itself in the foot by injecting their presence into everything.
Representation hasn't mattered in the last few years. No one cares anymore if you're straight, gay, or swing both ways. There are more mportant things in the world to worry about. And, in the end, your sexuality is just a tiny part of what you are anyway.
