That part has been disproved. Especially with the Manga since it showed a picture of the family before Mohn disappeared and before Lusamine had that UB obsession. (Not to mention the Manga is known for expanding on information from the games.) The kids look like smaller versions of what they are in the present day. No, the look was always coincidence, but if you actually think about it... the implications are not any less scary.
