Did dragons really deserve this?

And if the idea was to help balance things, why make Bug even worse? It should be super effective on Fairy if anything.

Well I can't say that Outrage spam was the most enjoyable experience, but on the other hand, Dragon was only that prevalent because it had powerful Pokemon. But I can still understand why they did it, and I appreciate the non-battling aspect of Fairy as a whole too. You can do a lot with "Fairies" as a concept. Plus it finally gave Poison something to chew on, which is amazing

But also Fairy resisting Bug is a load of bull and it is the one thing I would change about the type chart

Only one type resisted Dragon
Every Dragon had a Fire,Fighting, or Ground move of choice to deal with that type(which made flawless neutral coverage in conjunction with STAB)
Despite the drawbacks, Outrage and Draco Meteor were still low risk, high reward moves(will dent anything that is not a Steel type)
So yes

Electric doesn't resist Water and almost every Water type has a strong Ice move to hit Grass types
It's at least too good when compared to Grass and Fire, plus there's a huge amount of Water type Pokemon compared to the others

I always assumed it was because Bugs kinda have a "gross" or "creepy" factor to them. Therefore Fighting-type moves, most of which involve some kind of physical contact, wouldn't be very effective on them.

Fire-types hitting Steels makes them great and they have decent dual-types

I don't think it should be nerfed either (Water being weak to Poison would be fine, though.). I would rather make it so that Water-types have less Ice-type coverage. That's a big reason why they're so strong.

The main reason is that nearly every aquatic Pokemon is Water type, whereas terrestrial Pokemon can be any other types, so even without having absolute parity between aquatic and terrestrial numbers, Water is going to end up the most abundant. Itd be like making all terrestrial Pokemon Ground; you'd end up with a fuck ton of Ground Pokemon.

In Japan, "Bug" characters are often depicted as heroes, like Mothra and Kamen Rider
Fighting type is also considered a heroic, honorable type, like with Gallade and the Hitmons
Fighting and Bug resist each other because the good guys shouldn't be fighting each other

Uturn. That's it. And bugs suffer hard because hardly any bugs actually make good use of uturn. I honestly believe bug is the worst attacking type, yes worse than poison. And it probably always will be because of Uturn alone. At least they are starting to give bugs some broken moves to make up for it. Lunge and Leech life are great and will probably get distributed to more bugs in the future. Now that Xscissor is completely outclassed by those 2 attacks though, maybe xscissor can get buffed to 90BP with a high crit rate or something.

In OU and UU 2 pokemon are bug type and use u turn, scizor and beedrill. And some mega scizors don't even pack u turn.

Does that really justify keeping every other mon down. Yes, U-turn is a good move but it isn't some magical catch all, electric types still use t bolt, if x scissor was was 90 base power it would be used more.

Part of the reason u turn is used over x scissor is even that bug is such a shit typing and running bug coverage is underwhelming at best so the "support" that momentum brings in more valuable than bug coverage.

Sadly this. The only options were to make one type immune to dragon, or add two new types that resist dragon. When only one type resists dragons, it is literally impossible to 4X resist the retarded choice band outrage spam. When only 2 types resist dragon, then you get a VERY small handful of pokemon that can now stand up to the dragon spam. When 3 types resist dragon, then you can start talking about a healthy pool of pokemon to withstand outrage. So it's either do something like add a dragon resistance to an older type, or create one new type with immunity.

Most of the types it resists aren't very good offensively and aren't used outside of those that benefit from STAB. There's U-turn, which is quite common but if you switch in on that you're prone to lose advantage again.

Immunity to dragon was a good choice, super effective against dragon wasn't. The problem was that dragon was an extremely neutral type, so dragon spam offense with no weaknesses to exploit for revenge kills, backed up by dragons generally inflated stats, was too strong and hard to deal with.
But now that dragon spam offense is unreliable and fairy is a great neutral coverage type in it's own right, dragon went from almost completely neutral to mostly downside. It still doesn't have a ton of weaknesses, but its resistances aren't the most useful spread either so it ends up being an okay at best defensive type that just happens to get completely shit on by the best type in the game.

See that where the problem is, the only type that resists water and isn't weak to ice is water itself, so the best counter to a water type is another water type.
Also scald was a mistake and should have never be so widely distributed.

Is it just me, or both Ghost and Fairy are now insanely overpowered? Ghost is only blocked by normal and Dark, and Dark is very unpopular due to the influx of overpowered Fairy type users. It makes Mimikyu so insanely strong, especially with its OP ability. It's very hard to wall this thing. It really feels like a Gen 4 Garchomp kind of thing. Mind you I'm speaking from my experience versus Japanese people in the Battle Spot singles but I imagine there's a similar meta on the Smogon OU ladder, especially since I see things like Scarf Lando, Scarf Lele all the time.

Basically, fuck Mimikyu, and I think GF ruined the balance this generation. Make Steel resist Ghost again, man.

Unfortunately Gamefreak listens only to typelets who moan that their shitty typing is resisted by based Steel. Expect Steel to be weak to water in Gen 8 because "it rusts".

Ghost like steel, former dragon etc should be powerful/unique types, the nerfs to them should come in unreliable/weaker moves and shitty/odd stats. Think Iron tail/dragon rush in moves, and steelix/dusknoir when it comes to base stats etc.

Unironically this makes sense.

The only issue is that water mons and water moves are really common, while steel type mons are rarer and often found later in the games.

Ghost could possibly be resisted by Dragon. You could justify it by saying Dragon is a super-natural type, and so is Ghost. That way Dragon resisting it due to being the superior super-natural type would make sense. But of course GF has a hateboner for Dragons so they're never getting buffs again. Not that I mind too much, I just want fucking Mimikyu to get gutted, which likely it will through Fairy nerfs and maybe even Ghost nerfs come Gen8.

Easiest way to buff ice would be to make Freeze-dry more widespread (maybe buff BP to 75) and give ice resistance to water and electric. Nerfing water in return.
