I played them last year. They're good but definitely had a lot of room for improvement. More EV/IV tools, had the potential to be less linear in its story, unlock easy/hard mode from the go. Other improvements are more on the side of technology: 3D graphics for more expressive Humans/Pokemon, more conditions/way to catch pokemon, better cinematics since BW/2 were quite story focused, etc. It also had the chance to create a 'Red 2.0' had BW2 included the protags of BW, which was intended but didn't end up happening.
