I did that sometimes during BW1, but I don't know shit about breeding so it was just "a legal hack"

This is true. I actually had several boxes of 4-5 IV Absol rejects after hunting a shiny one. Jolly nature to boot. I gave them all away on wonder trade during the last pokemon direct though. Man that direct was a major hype killer for me.
