This franchise has potential, and that potential was realised during Gen 4 and 5. Back then, online battles didn't consist of a shitload of Megas, legends and Z-Moves, it was just simple, good old Pokemon with no bullshit gimmicks or extreme amounts of power creep
Nowadays, Mega Evolution, Z-Moves and the upcoming Dynamaxing has turned this franchise into a cancerous gimmickfest that GF dug themselves into with pretty much no way back
