>>38867732>Removed abilitiesThat is horrible from a competitive standpoint, but I do understand why so many people like it - the overwhelming majority of Pokémon players only do the single-player story, and don't do any post-game, any team planning, or any mulitplayer. In single-player, the only abilities you really notice are things like Sturdy, or Poison Point, or Static, which are very frustrating the play against.
Although for the record, people who claim that simplifying the battle system somehow removes the "unfair" advantage that experienced players have are deluding themselves. Competitive players will still thrash a "casual player who truly loves his favourite Pokémon" every time, they just have fewer strategies to choose from because removing abilities makes lots of Pokémon completely unviable.
