>>38876452Moody is often seen on Glalie in the battle spot, which Smogon has no say over since it's the official method for quick battles and isn't exactly policable. Glalie has the same three moves on every set: Protect, Substitute, and Sheer Cold, along with either Freeze Dry or Frost Breath.
Basically all they do is spam Protect and Substitute to stall out turns to rack up Moody Boosts to eventually become literally invincible and then spam Sheer Cold to get OHKOs or their singular attack of choice if you bring something resistent to Sheer Cold. It's widely hated to fight against because it's entirely dependent on luck and you will often lose to it through no fault of your own solely because the RNG favored the Glalie user. Smogon's only recommended counters to it are Heatran (who can still lose if they land Sheer Cold, and even then it's still not perfect since Moody can grant evasion boosts), or to just outspeed and kill it in one hit. And if they get an evasion or speed boost that first turn when they use protect, just forfeit. You already fucking lost, you aren't outspeeding them and if you missed they'll set up a sub and heal off all the damage with leftovers.
It's infuriating and fights with the damn thing can take from thirty minutes to a fucking HOUR. And even then you can still lose at the last minute if they land a Sheer Cold when you finally whittle the fucking thing down enough where it can't set up another sub. If Evasion is Cancer than fighting Moody Glalie is every single STD in the book mixed into a single serum of selectively sordid shit that makes you vomit and flail in agony as you beg for death.
I'm not joking about the hour part either. On Showdown it might go fast but when you actually fight one of these things on the 3DS over Wifi it starts to get painful. The only solace I have in all of this is that I won in the end and even then I didn't get to keep the replay because the jackass disconnected when I finally killed the damn thing.
