Jolteon is kinda a bad idea though, until he end when it becomes very useful after learning thunder wave, just in time for the hardest fights though
You could use an ampharos and get espeon umbreon or vaporeon if you like them better

Both Shadow Flaaffy in Colosseum and Shadow Mareep in XD are useful for early thunder wave.

I like Quagsire in Colosseum too. It's bulky, has one weakness, it comes with surf and it's found early.
