Tag-mon, both share a health pool and move set and you chose which one takes damage and which does the attacking for the purpose of stab and resistance.
Obviously you'd have to put some work into the finer details to not just make the meta one super tanky mon attached to a glass canon but it could be interesting.

The ability to use trainer items in an equal/finite number. Probably just one of a few key items like 1 Max Revive, 1 Full Restore, or a few X-Stat items.

Dynamic fields/arenas with effects that are predetermined and change the power/effects of different types of moves (not limited to damaging), similar to the anime having different fields of battle. Sort of like the Tapu floor effects from SM, but way more varied and just passively effecting every battle at certain locations. Player battles give options for fields to battle on.

We kinda had this with the Wonder Launcher in Gen 5. It was neat, but they haven't brought it back.

De-evolution, the ability to de-evolve any Pokemon into a prehistoric powerhouse. Sharpedo would turn into a Megalopedo, a slow but bulky sweeper with Strong Jaws as the ability.

On your turn you can Defend to reduce damage. You can also have other options like focusing to regain Stamina\PP.

>Turbo Mode
Once per battle EACH Pokemon can enter turbo Mode which effectively increases their two best stats 50% and gives their STAB attacks more oomph. In exchange their moves cost 1.5x more Stamina The limit on the use of this mode is the Stamina. If the bar is depleted the mode ends but it can be entered at any point. Megas and Dyna can't stack with Turbo. Z Moves can.

Hyper-Abilities
Usable once per battle, these can replace the pokémon's current ability with another one that offers several buffs and perks that are much stronger than what normal abilities have.

Battle Royales, you can enter with two other characters from the game, team up with anyone willing to battle with you, or battle against everyone yourself. Whoever gets the most points from beating the other opponents gets to have a triple battle against the Battle Royale Captains. Having Inverse Battle and Free For All tournaments would be pretty great as well.

Sky battles, but instead of just being normal battles with flying types only, you would choose three moves for the pokemon to use then they would fly up and battle (or battle entirely on their own, like that one battle facility in emerald)
Could also apply for water types for dive battles

Basically you activate it just like you would a mega evolution, as in choose it and then the move you're using that turn, but nothing happens instantly, no indication it has been selected etc, but if on that turn you would be to faint, you're left alive for 1 more turn with 0 hp, unable to heal your pokemon but also unable to die so you can get in one more attack, but only for 1 turn. But if you do not faint on that turn, you wasted the chance to do so and can't use it again, and also just like z-moves they're a 1 per battle thing.

it's literally a 6v6 longass battle. Instead of simply using attacks to damage your oponent, the 6 pokemon must be set up in a formation, and use their attacks to score a goal. The match begins with one of the sides with the ball, and they have the options of pass, shoot or launch. pass will give the ball to closer ally, shoot will be in order to score a goal and launch will be simply sending the ball away from your goal point. the moves have effects kinda like the contests and can affect your own team or the opponent team. For example, agility would increase your chances of sucessfully pass, whereas swords dance would increase your shoot chances. the team that doesn't have the ball have the option of tag or defend. tag means to try and steal the ball from the target, and defend means to block passes or shoots. first team to score three points win. mega evolutions work for three turns and z moves are special single turn movements.

Primal Reversion isn't the regression of a Pokémon to a form earlier in the evolutionary history of its species; it's two specific Pokémon drawing power from the land in a way that matches their original power, which itself is from within their own lifetime and has nothing to do with evolutionary history. This is why it's exclusive to Kyogre and Groudon (they're the only Pokémon with the capacity to interact with natural energy in that way).
Primal Reversion is not and never has been connected to ancient lines like fossil Pokémon or Pokémon with notable ancestors or anything involving evolution in that sense at all despite the relative prominence of those ideas in Hoenn (including both fossils and the more-recent-but-still-ancient Claydol being on the Champion's team - the Champion whose only personality is that he likes to study rocks and old stuff).

Partner empowerment.

One Pokemon on your team is designated as the "Partner Pokemon" (And by fucking god it will follow you on the overworld). In battle, you can channel its power into the currently active pokemon to empower it, boosting one of its stats based on your Partner. It also grants one of your partners moves as a fifth move to the empowered pokemon to use.

Instead of the pokemon getting a new form, the trainer themselves get more powerful via gaining a new visual appearance (pokemon armor or some shit). For example they can get pikachu armor, charizard armor, etc and have their own trainer abilities increased, such as choosing two moves at once or using two items at once and etc. And depending on the pokemon their armor is based on they can buff the pokemon as well or gain new special abilities. And perhaps the most important part of it all is the trainer can fight too.

Use the environment for offense/defense during battle. So basically when battling other people online, instead of being a generic pokemon stadium it will take place in various settings (forests, craggy volcano sites, beaches, deserts, etc) and trainers and pokemon will be able to use the environment to their advantage. Examples include using trees as cover, using sand, etc.

Hyper Effect. It would be like a secondary "item" for a pokemon which, for three turns, essentially puts everything it's got into one aspect.

If you equip the Hyper Fire, it means your pokemon's Fire-type attacks will do a lot more damage for three turns, but all of its other type moves will barely do a dent. On top of that, it'll take more PP from the fire-type moves and make Water, Rock, and Ground-type moves do more damage to it.

Hyper Attack will max out the attack stat for three turns, but take away from its special attack and both defenses. It'll become a true glass cannon for those three turns.

Hyper Speed will take away from both attack and defense stats evenly to max out the speed. It doesn't take as much away as Hyper Attack, Defense, Special Attack, or Special Defense though.

Hyper Resist makes it so the types its weak to become not very effective for three turns, but the types it resist do slightly more damage than before. Albeit still not very effective.

Essentially, it's like steroids for pokemon

Elemental shields that can be put up once per battle any turn, the move you use that turn determines the typing of the shield. Any physical or special attack will take the shield down, but no damage will be done that turn unless the typing of the move used matches (fire attack takes down fire shield and will do extra damage). Status moves have no effect.

Every Pokemon can now block, which will ignore all modifiers on both the attacking and defending sides, then reduces all damaging moves by 33% and can used without failing.

So basically, if you Block, any stat increases, stat decreases, items, STAB, Crits, and abilities will all be ignored for that turn, and the damage calculation is 2/3rds of a raw calculation.
So boosting like crazy with Bulk Up or Calm Mind would actually do way more damage.

Your trainer will fight alongside your pokemon during trainer battles and gym battles and E4 battles and you will level up and learn moves and be able to learn TMs from a human TM set.

6v6 "Hex" battle: your team is split into two 3-member rotations like a rotation battle, with one as a frontline and the other as a backline. On any turn, you can rotate one of the lines t attack, or you can switch you frontline and backline, but not both. Pokemon on the frontline can protect backline pokemon from contact attacks, but not from long range attacks. Maybe your rotated-in mon on each line can both attack each turn? It might be a clusterfuck but that's kind of the point. I guess it would be like a double-rotation-battle really, bit it would kind of work with an offense-defense sports soccer theme. Having a fronine and backline in a normal double battle would be cool too though, like doubles tennis.
