I love Pokémon, and many other monster collector games, but I hate useless gimmicks that don't add to a game but instead exist for the sake of having something new that waste time instead of expanding on existing mechanics like Mega Evolution or many of the other things that were present in previous titles that but were removed just because another producer made it.
Every other franchise out there evolves and expands, but Pokémon is that one franchise that doesn't simply because it sells well by default.
X/Y and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire were great games imo and after all that's revealed, I'd rather play them and wait for Gen 9 when Game Freak has overcome the hurdles of not knowing what works and what doesn't for the Switch.
