I don't think there's anyone, even on this shithole board that thinks right looks better than left.
The colors are great, more saturated but not TOO saturated. Really makes 'em pop.

That I wouldn't count on, at all. Gamefreak is still Gamefreak. Fixing colors is easy, but going back and full on fixing models and their boring idle animations is much more work.

Yeah I know. They really hit the jackpot with 3D models, let's them be lazy as fuck. It's a bit depressing to go look at the sprites changing from gens 1 through 5 then suddenly everything looks exactly the fucking same for the next three gens.

If they start taking better advantage of it the 3D could be great. They have that retarded attitude of keeping things exclusive to certain gens though. I'd love to play more minigames or stuff like pokeathlons in 3D.

I like left more but the white highlights really bother me. Look at Sawk's head here >>38889499 that's not how light is reflected.
Worst part is that this style isn't exclusive to pokémon and I have no idea why it is so popular.

How the fuck is it lazy? What exactly are they supposed to do to make the Pokemon look different game to game after creating a serviceable 3D model that can do whatever they need? Are you seriously trying to say that building, rigging, and animating a 3D model is lazier than drawing a sprite? They're all getting brand new textures for SS anyway, meaning multiple art assets created for each Pokemon. There's far more work going into each Pokemon than drawing a single sprite for them. What a ridiculous complaint. Get a grip and stop nitpicking aimlessly retard.

That's fresnel aka rim lighting. It's a cheap effect that is often added to toon shaded models since it adds a little bit more depth

I mean they don't have to do any work on how the Pokemon themselves look but we haven't really gotten improved animations or posing despite that. Fucking Blastoise doesn't even use it's canons.

If they keep just dropping the models into the next game without making additions that take advantage of the 3D they are absolutely lazy.
