That said, I personally feel the the other way. Pokemon is about the Pokemon. It's about finding new ones, collecting them, making a team of your favourites. You just can't have the game without them, yet you can still have the Pokemon without the game. And that's why I want GameFreak to focus on them, to give them the love and attention they need to be their best. I don't want to be dragged along to hear about somebody's family problems or how some idiots wants to reset the world, I want to see the Pokemon and their world and how the Pokemon affect their world. This, to me, is like GameFreak saying that the Pokemon don't matter - that as long as some exist to be used the others may as well not. I'm not okay with that and I'm not okay with what it could mean for the future. It's a slippery slope until they actually do decide to make it so that some Pokemon actually are gone. "If they're not in the games, why even bother with them?"
Also, again, it's confirmation that GameFreak will actively leave out content just to get their games out faster. If the single biggest aspect of the franchise is not safe, nothing is.
