It needed to happen and any other dev would have rebooted the series by now. This was some of the only good news in the direct, since it shows at least a nominal interest in the games' future. The shitty 'it gets bigger' gimmick, the lazy reused animations, and the generally unimpressive quality of this direct should worry you much more than the fact that you can't transfer your decade-old shiny collection to yet another game, or have all the regional birds at once.
