People are in it for the yearly "Thrill", they don't care about how good the game actually is, or what content is actually in the game, as long as they get to find pikachu again, just like they did every year since they started playing. hence, why BW got so much flak
as mentioned, with franchises like COD and 2K/Fifa, people mostly play for the online component, pokemon fans, and I mean the majority of pokemon fans, since the amount of people who buy the games is so huge, will likely play it once, get a nostalgia rush by seeing their favorite(pikachu), post on reddit about how awesome the new features are, dip their toes into online battling a little bit(provided they even bothered finishing the game), and they will wait for the next release
Most people playing the game are normalfags and underage, they wouldn't know a good game if it hit them in the face, especially since they only play the games once per year, for the "Wow, it's pokemon!" factor, like I said. Actual pokemon fans, who enjoy the games, the battling, the collecting ect. will always be in the minority because there is just so many normalniggers around
and no, it doesn't get better, it will only get worse, every yearly franchise goes thru this, pokemon fans are just now starting to really feel it
