Some people say mistranslation, some people say thats what Masuda meant, some have said that its for competitive only, while others have said that the rest will be added at a future update.

Masuda literally said Pokemon that are not in the Galar dex can't be transferred between Home and Sword/Shield. That's it. A huge chunk of Pokemon are not going to be in the game, and there will be no way to get them into the game. Nothing about updates or competitive or postgame or anything. If they're not in the regional dex, you can't transfer them in.
