It was alright. At some point I had gotten all the digimon you could get without going into new game plus and just sort of dropped it before finishing the main story.

I always felt like Digimon was the stronger world. It made since for new Digimon to be discovered because they're digital. A Digimon could be hidden on some random hacker's PC for years before being released into the "wild." Meanwhile with Pokemon we have Regions that have existed for centuries and just didn't bother to tell Kanto about the 700 other Pokemon that existed?

Digimon World 1 is fun if you want a retro PS1 game but its notoriously obtuse. If you want to relive the childhood experience of not knowing shit about the game you're playing the World is perfect for that.

Digimon World 2 is kind of like a Mystery Dungeon game mixed with SMT.

Digimon World 3 is a more traditional JRPG and probably the easiest to get into. I like it but it's not great.

You could emulate Re:Digitize for PSP with a translation patch.

it's shit in a different way than most things are shit, honestly. it's a heavy grinding dungeon crawler game with surprisingly limited party options. when you're going through new stuff for the first time, it isn't horrendous. it's grinding the same dungeon for ten hours "friending" the same digimon over and over to properly combine and level up. so yeah. it's shit, but for gating reasons more than anything else. if the game had better flow, it'd be no different to other early ps1 dungeon crawlers like chocobo's mystery dungeon and shit like that.
