Anyone else just sad, not even angry?
I'm just disappointed and bummed that my favorite video game franchise has come to this point. I don't really know how to express it properly, but it's just the fact that we straight up know GameFreak doesn't really give a shit about the quality of the games.
I know it's been this way since Gen 6, but the announcement today really felt like the final slap in the face for me.
I'm not gonna leave, as I love Pokemon. But unless something incredible is revealed for Sword and Shield, or they end up going back on it, it hurts knowing this is the amount of effort GameFreak is willing to put in.

To be honest, I’ve been out of the Pokémon scene since after gen 3, I got back in in gen 7 all excited but... gen 7 could have been better.

And I was really excited and hopeful for gen 8 and now.. this.

I guess won’t be getting back into Pokémon games.

I'm actually not worried.
I've never really transferred any pokemon from my past games to the newer ones, so I don't really mind waiting a bit longer to be able to do so, and trust me, they'll be forced to eventually update the game with the ones who were left out at first.

I really really hope so. Even Japan is pissed about this, hopefully they come to their senses and start working on patching all 809 into the game.
And if they make that decision they better announce it right away and announce it soon. People are gonna get more and more angry about this the longer it's allowed to fester.

Fuck GameFreak. Cyber Sleuth for Vita had 380~ models with custom animations for each AND everthing about it looked better than the new pokemon.

I wasn't planning on transferring my Pokemon from my 3DS, at least not right away, so realistically I'm not very affected by this. What drives me nuts is the "we made too many Pokemon" explanation because I said back when BW2 came out that we should have games like that- a new adventure that mixes up what was already made- to prevent something like this from happening

Gamefreak will be pressured to something if they don't do it right away. Hell, they always do this shit with every new gen; withhold features until some time after launch. People will unfortunately just have to wait again until they finish the patch.
I remember how they hyped up Bank and the ability to transfer from Gen 3, and even the VC Gen 1/2, and that wasn't too long ago, so they have to say something before the actual launch, if not sooner.

Yeah, it's sad. I actually skipped gen 7, even when the hype for SM was fucking ridiculous, I was feeling worn out already. Eventually, I stopped coming here too. I came back when I saw Let's Go was announced, to see what it was about. It wasn't the game for me either, so I left again. I'd seen them saying the next games would be for the long time fans, so when I saw they announced Sword and Shield, I came back to pokemon in general again. Played some of the old games, had fun for a few months. I was looking forward to getting more info on gen 8. Last week's direct wasn't excellent, but from it I got the feeling that finally GF was making decisions I personally liked it. I was hyped as fuck to see more today. And then, well, we all know what happened.

So I guess it's officially over for me. I'm not going to hate on sword and shield. The games are just not for me. Such is life. I hope that some people get to enjoy them the way I enjoyed the older games, at least. I'm still sad, though. I've been a pokemon fan for over twenty years. The pokemania was a big part of my childhood. It's silly to feel so attached to a franchise, I know, and I'm going to be just fine without pokemon in my life. But I can't help feeling a bit down about it.

To those of you who are sticking with pokemon, I sincerely hope you have tons of fun withthe new games.
