If that were the case, there would be no reason to bar people from trading their old Pokemon in the first place. Maybe it will happen a few months after launch but if it does it will be a gradually drip of ~5-10 Pokemon at a time, with an update for the game with each wave, and that's not going to make people very happy either and will take forever.
