The 3D models and animations for each previous pokemon have already existed since gen 6 and it's clear that they're not planning on using any new animations. Even the walk animations were already made

Across the millions and millions of people who play pokemon, there are thousands of people who like any given pokemon. I say this as somebody who likes the finneon and chinchou lines, no matter how competitively shit they are.

Graphics themselves are a matter of opinion, but with all the clipping and NPCs that don't render, it seems as if you could re-create the game in Gary's mod with minecraft shaders and get the exact same effect.
