as far as i know, they don't just nuke all the content they've been building up
it's like if hearthstone said they had to delete cards from wild mode to make room for new cards in standard mode.....it must seem so dumb to today's young gamers that this ultra huge franchise has to cull much of its IP in what is supposed to be a series that advances itself completely, at least in terms of what pokemon are functionally within the game
it's like yeah, im sure that mmos delete old places and quests, but in pokemon, the pokemon roster is essential, and by getting rid of some for a few years, you're treating your audience like a bunch of dopes being punished for their autistic devotion rather than praised for it
