I used to shrug off GameFreak being lazy and just thought it was cherry-picking.

Seeing all the other franchises this year getting a new game with actual effort and even Animal Crossing getting a delay has really opened my eyes.

This franchise has been scraping by with literal bare minimum effort for way too long. With the global success of Detective Pikachu this was the time to revive the series and they fucked up.

It’s not even about the money they have at their availability, it’s a project they’re told to have ready by a certain time and if they can cut constraints to make it within a quarter they get massive amounts of money. Gamefreak isn’t necessarily being given billions of dollars to create this game or to pay its staff, so please, understand. They’ll probably patch them in later.

If you can make Red Dead for 600 million there is no reason to approve more than 500 million But lets be generous and give as far industry standards and give them a budget of 200 million. I don't get what you're saying, GF owns 1/3rd of all of Pokemon, plus their games have a stupidly long shelf life and chart years after release, there's simply no possible way in any universe they aren't turning obscene profit to the point where they have no need to go to TCPI or Nintendo to ask for cash, it's also odd to me that you'd imply that Nintendo's biggest cash cow would ever have budgeting issues.

The problem isn't budget, it's just Gamefreak.

SWSH needs to flop hard, then the next Let’s Go games need to flop even harder.

Why isn't their team larger? These are the absolute top-selling titles for Nintendo. The real reason this isn't being delayed is because Nintendo *needs* this release for their holiday quarter profits.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the game is about 8GB in total size and Pokemon were cut to avoid having to make the game on a larger cart, thus eating at profits.
