The actual gameplay of pokemon is mediocre at best in every way - its rpg elements, its worldbuilding, its characters, its battle mechanics (at least on a casual level), its difficulty and post game. The entire gimmick of the franchise ever since it started was catching whatever you wanted and choosing your own team, which is also the biggest factor for its replayability and carry over for fans of different generations.
But I'm already jaded about the video game market in general. I know it will still do fairly well no matter how much criticism it gets. And I know that even /vp/, one of the more anti-GF and complaint-heavy groups, is filled with cum guzzling lurkers who have already pre-ordered it like they do with every other single game think has a cool trailer.
