Can someone explain to me the source of the outrage? Most of the other games didn't have a national pokedex either. Why is it all of a sudden a breaking point?

Because in previous games you could still have Pokemon not in the regional dex if you traded/transferred/hacked them. In SnS, you can't transfer some/many Pokémon because their data simply won't exist in the games.

Actually only gen7 didn't have a national dex
But even though gen7 didn't have a national dex you can still transfer old mons into that game. You can't do that in gen8 unless the mon is in the galar dex. Pokemons outside the galar dex is unavailable

Even if the other games didn't have a National Dex, the rest of the Pokemon were still coded into the game, meaning you could still use 'em and interact with 'em. Literally all it is, is that they wouldn't have a Dex entry, I think. Or they'd reuse old ones.

But here, they won't be coded in the game PERIOD. Meaning they simply won't be able to exist in the new games. That's why people are up in arms.

Gen 7 isn't most games
Also they still had the Pokemon.
You can't transfer them, they are not in the game, they will never be in the game because Gamefreak doesn't update shit unless the game is literally broken.

Because you could still transfer Pokemon from old games into the new one. This game will literally not have the code to have them in at all. And the worst part is that it is part of their new initiative which means if this continues as games go forward, they will cut more and more Pokemon.

You could still transfer any Pokémon you wanted. That's been the case for over a decade. They modeled 600+ Pokémon with their animations in XY, and they're still using those models, so this can't possibly be a development time concern. This would only be understandable in Generation 10 when they have to make new models for stronger hardware.

Every game has a National Pokédex except for Gen VII. But that should have been a sign. Gen VII may have dropped it, but at least it was still compatible with Pokémon outside the Alola Pokédex. Then LGPE came along and didn't have either, but people didn't think much of it. Then it turns out that's the entire case going forward.
