>>38927231People aren't mad that they can't catch *every* Pokémon themselves. They're mad that there are *specific* Pokémon they can't have - that they ALREADY have and can no longer use. Cutting off transfers means that their favorite is at risk of losing relevance - and since every single Pokémon is SOMEONE'S favorite, then no matter which Pokémon are cut, someone will have that problem. You don't need to have caught every Pokémon - you just need to have planned on transferring a specific one for which you no longer have that option.
In particular, starters and Legendary and Mythical Pokémon are often some of the most popular in the series, and it's generally considered to be unlikely that any that aren't from Kanto will return for Sword and Shield. This exacerbates the existing problem of Kanto favoritism, and it causes many people to lose the chance to bring forward not *random* Pokémon and not *all* of their Pokémon but their *most important* Pokémon into Sword and Shield.
You have to be being deliberately disingenuous - you can't possibly mean to say you don't at least *grasp* that whether you agree with it or not.
That said, I personally don't have a problem with it for my own sake - as long as, across the entire span of Generation VIII, we end up with at least one game for each Pokémon, I'm honestly fine with it. If there's a Pokémon that straight-up can't enter any game in Gen VIII by the time we move on to Gen IX, I might start to be upset (in my opinion, THAT sets a rather dangerous precedent), but I personally don't have a problem if it's just a matter of waiting a bit longer and sending my favorites to a game other than Sword and Shield. And in any case, if that's my condition for not being okay with it, it won't be until Gen IX is announced that I take any issue; I can't determine that from Sword and Shield alone.
