The like/dislike ratio is 1/1.6, the amount of likes has barely increased, but the dislike ratio is increasing really fast, specially comparing it to the other Nintendo E3 videos

Gamefreak REALLY fucked up this time, if they delay the game the will have to delay everything Pokémon related (anime and cards included).
This situation is a mess, and TPCi is not going to be happy about it.

this isn't an unpopular opinion though anon. name one website or social media platform that is wholy unironically defending this decision. Most of the pokemon fan sites and subforums both here and abroad are fucking pissed about this. Even the few contrarian outliers and casuals that don't give a shit are being drowned out. I haven't seeen /vp/ united on an issue like this in YEARS. Even the new games have their defenders.

Honest question, why do people care? It's a new game, just play it like a new game. It still has 400 fucking pokemon and hundreds of hours of content, we finally have an open world and overworld mons.

I always thought the ability to transfer mons between games was niche at best anyway it doesn't effect the gameplay in any way.

Besides the fact that it has been a part of the franchise since Gen 3, besides the fact that some people have been moving pokemon forward, game to game, for over 15 years, besides seeing all the pokemon in a new region, on their TV, on a console, I just dont want to have to pay GF or TPCi indefinitely while my Pokemon sit on a server in Home forever never allowed to come back out to play and battle. Game batteries die, networks get shut down, and once you transfer forward, you cant transfer back, which means once your Pokemon are in Home, you have to keep paying or they get deleted. You cant store them on your switch and wait for the next gen. Pay Gamefreak or have hundreds of hours of work erased. Fuck them.

No they won't. Even if everyone complains they'll still buy the game, it's guaranteed to make over $10 million, just like LGPE, Pokemon Home could not exist and 3DS Pokemon would just be left to rot and it wouldn't dent sales whatsoever.

Look at the Spaceworld engine - it's basically the same as Gen 1.

They do use oop; sciresm was too quick passing judgement that he missed they have the ability to set Fast Mode, which keeps it Decrypted until they clear the flag. For Mass get/set operations like pkm creation, they set the flag. It's the reason the pkm struct has "sanity" flags right after the encryption constant -- the fast mode flag is one of them.

"Encrypted" data, why the fuck would you do this? Is the pokemon code obfuscated? Are you sure he didnt mean compressed?
If ROM is expensive, it makes sense to compress all your data as much as possible, but that does mean you have to have the RAM required to decompress it.
When you do decompress data, it is not often you can decompress only some of it and still have usable data. Usually you decompress all of it. And even if you can, it makes absolutely no sense to decompress the entire thing then fetch one byte and then decompress it all again.
Are you absolutely sure they are not using a decompression algorithm that allows you take out any single byte without much work? In that case, if you dont have the RAM to store all the data, it would make sense to do compression / decompression every time. But encryption? What the absolute fuck??

I have Pokemon on Ultra Sun right now that I've had for 17 goddamn years. I have Pokemon I received from friends, I have a Pokemon I got from a friend that's dead now. The idea that I can no longer bring every Pokemon forward when Gamefreak has for the last 17 years drilled into consumers heads that such a disconnect would never occur again specifically because they claimed to understand how important older Pokemon were to players is a huge slap in the face. Especially when these games were future proofed, are using a majority of their assets, and the animations are noticeably not any better than past titles.
