One thing that concerns me.

We have no confirmation of there being more than one Wild Area. What if there's just one and the rest is forced path bullshit all over again?

Pretty sure Wild Area is just a space between routes or cities. There may be more than one, but to answer your question, there will still be linear routes

Are you fucking stupid? Everytime they talk about it they confirm there is only one wild area. It's basically safari zones when a few different ecosystems.

From the looks of the map, some video footage, and some screenshots, it seems the Wild Area extends from the bottom middle up to the city that's smack dab in the middle of the region with the floating platforms.

They have never once said wild areas. Everytime they speak about it they refer to it as THE wild area, singular. Go see for yourself. If there were more than one they would have introduced the feature as wild areas, not THE wild area.

From what I saw it looks like one big area in the middle of the region that has various subsections but they are all immediately connected. The cities it connects with are all on the outskirts of the area.

You'll probably be backtracking across the area a number of times so they can show off new weather patterns each time you go back to it

There's not, there is the lake and the forced corridor that includes the desert. All part of THE Wild Area. They might just block you from crossing that bridge initially but it's all one place. Everything else is also forced corridor
