Nobody seems knows definitively if they're being removed or not. There's a chance that GF isnt retconning everything.
they still deserve every ounce of shit they're getting

Megas feel safe to me. Z moves not so much though. That feels like something that'll stay just to the alolan region.

If they're willing to remove literal Pokémon for the sake of "balancing" reasons. Z-Moves and Megas are almost guaranteed the first ones on the chopping block.

I'm thinking otherwise. Megas are weaker but are for the entire battle, and Z-Moves are one shots but are are really strong. It seems to me that they made Dynas a middleground. Don't see why they'd need to remove the others.

They said dynamax was replacing old mechanics. They didn't specify if they meant mega evolution and z-moves are gone or if they just meant it's the new thing.

They cant really remove Megas. Its an important part of certain pokemon lines. And seeing as Charizard and Lucario are in the game Megas surely are too.

Some anon translated the raw of what Masuda said about that, said it sounded like he was equating Dynamax to these games like Megas/Z-Moves were in their games. I'm betting they're not gone forever (Unless they think of a way to retcon Ultra Necrozma) but they're going to be a Post-Game thing (anon suggested having the Dynamax braclet be upgraded to used Dyamax/Z-Moves/Megas, ut only allow use of one at any one time (with its usual limitations).

The new gimmick being a mix of both isn't necessarily why it's removed, but coupled with the removal of half the mons highly indicates them being removed, as usually all three would be in the post game.
