>>38937279It depends on the definition of flop. If the sales drop between GSC and RSE is any indication, some sort of exodus from game incompatibility might be the first time Pokemon ever dips below 10M sales for a new gen title.
On the other hand, for any series that isn't Pokemon, selling like 7-8M units (think this is a reasonable guess?) equates to being wildly successful.
The question is probably, will GF/Nintendo/investors view this as "Wow we sold 8M copies of a game while only investing a shoestring budget, rejoice!" or "We lost tens of millions of dollars in potential profits by not investing a little more in this game, and destroyed the integrity of the largest media brand in the world while we were at it. This is unacceptable." I literally can't figure out how these rich investor types think, so its gunna be a real coinflip to see how this turns out.
