Why even bother with anything after them? Literally the only worthwhile moments of anything after B2W2 are the Deoxys battle in ORAS and the Ultra Necrozma battle (which are admittedly among the best in the series)
Just replay Emerald/Platinum/HGSS/B2W2 if you want a good, official, soulful Pokemon game, play a ROM hack if you want something different, or, and here's a crazy idea, play something other than Pokemon or even do something other than vidya, anime or 4chan. If you're going to mostly ditch the series this is a great opportunity to pick up an instrument or a book or a programming language. Break free from GF's claws.

Reminder that BW2 was the last time a Pokemon game came out in Japan months before the international release, with all big info reveals coming from Japanese sources like CoroCoro and that Sunday show.
Everything after has been pandering to international audiences.
