What would be the best entry to play as of now? I played that mmo a bit way back but otherwise have no experience with the series. I only ask it not be one of those games where the battles are in first person, I'd like to see my cool monsters/demons when they're battling.

Nocturne is the best game I've played to date. A good balance of Story + gameplay. Don't get me wrong, SMT4 and apocalypse had a good plot too but the gameplay sucks

SMT tends to have a very minimalist plot with most of the focus being dungeon crawling and running around semi-empty landscales. Persona on the other hand is basically just an anime in videogame form so it's easier to make into an anime.

Confirmed baby. Persona is a visual novel, not a game. Combat and gameplay in SMT have far depth than waifushit that is mostly a VN with some gameplay.

I tried to play SMT 4. It's a pretty damn ugly game, and trying to 'catch' demons is a fucking nightmare, but I probably just suck. I lose all my limited early-game items trying to lure one, then I have nothing left and it's game over shortly after. Fun. I'm genuinely not sure what I'm doing wrong either - guides just say "guess based on their personality" but that doesn't really help me. Is this what the challenge is?
