Yokai Watch is legitimately a great series, and I loved both 2 and 3 way more than Sun and Moon.

Hoping 4 can transition to a new style of gameplay well, it's looking pretty good so far.

Yokai Watch 3 was fantastic, but I've been hearing Yokai Watch is going through a similar cut down with Yokai Watch 4. I love the unique designs in it but the recolors are pretty lame, and it seems like a lot of recolors are making the cut to stay in. Also the new battle system doesn't look as fun.

i personally loved both cyber sleuth and hacker's memory. in addition to the gorgeous animations, they had good stories, likeable characters, and qol features that should have been standard in pokemon years ago - such as difficulty settings, following mons, and items to change your mons' natures on the fly.

I honestly did find YW to be better then Pokemon this gen.

I didn't care for most of the yokai but the setting and characters were pretty good and the post game in 2 and 3 was perfect.

Just wish they didn't removed Katie for Haley. She was fun but pretty one note.

I can’t argue with this. I got into Yo-Kai Watch just this year and it was a breath of fresh air now that Pokemon has got so stale, you can tell that Level-5 have put a lot of love and effort into making the games great. I still need to finish 3 but even Blasters was fun as hell.

Yes, but it was outsourced and extremely glitchy.
they also limited it to 1 treasure per dungeon so it was ridiculously grindy and the cool new yokai that they added was locked behind a random requirement that the game didn't tell you, mine was streetpass 100 people

Same, I'm not into spirit style monsters and the designs themselves look a bit too disturbing.
I will probably just stick with pokemon but with older games, spin offs, fan games and romhacks.

Basically they know they'll make so much money regardless that they dont feel the need to go all out. Pokemon can go as big and grand as they'd like but choose not to. His excuse is that people are busy with this and that but he fails to realise that when people enjoy something they'll invest their time into it. People like playing pokemon from all walks of life and if they make a game worth playing people would gladly put their phones down and focus on pokemon. But recently pokemon games have been such snooze fests that I actually have to play while watching or doing something else. Or at least let's go was boring (loved its art direction for the characters though)

digimon survive is already confirmed to be coming to the switch, but that game is going to be more like devil survivor than pokemon in terms of gameplay.

Yokai Watch 3 was changed up in the American release so that nothing is merch-locked or otherwise unobtainable. Level 5 of America made it so you didn't have to buy merch or scan QR codes to get all the monsters like in the Japanese version. Really think about that.

Everyone rags on yo kai watch's designs but they DO have something for every kind of pokemon taste I've ever seen. If you like down-to-earth cartoon animals, freaky gross monsters, robots, furries, waifushit, objects or anything else there's plenty of Yokai for you if you get off your lazy ass and look.

My favorite is this mimic.

It has a fun and very fast battle system, I like the team building and I actually like how the yokai do their basic damaging moves on their own, while you just control basically their Z-moves.

pic related is from a different digimon game, but it still applies. digimon had better animations on the ps1 than pokemon has on the switch.
